MTCH PHNX

MTCH almost single-handedly started the boutique tube amp market in late 1980's / early 1990's with their take on a British EL84 tube based classic. Since then there have been created a number of models by the manufacturer. The PHNX is in our view a special piece. It is a cross between a copper panel style amp and a plexi style amp. The EL34 output section and other tweaks solve the issues of the classic British amp. Even into higher gain settings the amp is percussive, punchy and holds together beautifully, while it exhibits some of the most beautiful rock tones available. It indeed does combine best traits of the copper and plexi panel amps.   This DI capture set includes 45 captures of Channel I and Channel II, the higher gain captures feature a KLN clone, a vintage BSB pedal, a vintage white face rodent, an 808 overdrive as well as two tube based pedals - MIN and PAG by a Canadian company.
