From scooped and bright americana clean tones to raunchy, big and tough crunch tones – this little 10 Watt amp has gobs of character through and through.
This little amp will hand out some of the most distinctive and wonderfully nasty overdriven tones with ease. It will sound much bigger than its size suggests when miced up and it has a character that is like made for alternative rock style riffs.
It is a bit on the brighter side and would be a better match to humbuckers right out of the box, but single coil guitars will shine with it, if you dial back the tone pot a bit.
The Crestline era Gibsons are not as desirable on the market as the earlier models. This has a lot to do with some minor tweaks in the circuits that resulted in very bright tones, as well as with the speakers that Gibson used during this era, which further increased these issues.
With small tweaks/mods these amps can be made to sound wonderful, but even in their stock form they record beautifully through appropriate mics and micing technique.
The set includes 23 full captures that were recorded through the built in 1X10 Gibson speaker and the mics used were 2x Royer R121, a Beyerdynamic M160 and a Neumann U87. Please refer to the full list of included captures in the product photo section.

The Amalgam library now contains several great captures of classic Fender amps, but the slightly-obscure Vibroverb might be my favorite.
