DZ is one of the mainstays of the american boutqiue brands and the MZ models are by far the most iconic amp of the brand.
It has a very unique tone - it has a LOT of bite, but a nice body at the same time, while not getting into the harsh territory. It has a wirey quality that is always supported with a nice punch at the same time.
Also the attack is very unique, it is quick, but at the same time has a nice compression. It does indeed lend itself very well for the edge of breakup tones and crunch tones in particular. While it is not one of the models that Brad Paisley was involved with, at least to my knowledge, one can easily see, how this amp would work wonders within that style of playing.
It takes pedals nicely and adds its own specific character to them - overdrives sound massive and strong through it.
The amp was tracked through a MTCH 2X12 with Cel G12H30 Anniversary speakers (that are the stock speakers that come with the combo versions of the amp), the mics used are 2X Royer R121, 1X Beyerdynamic M160 and 1X Neumann U87.
