Everyone who follows amalgam audio knows that i have a soft spot for vintage Gibsons, in particular the Tweed era. This is no exception. It is instantly one of my all time favorite amps. A very unique, usable and musical tone.
It is not the amp from the record, but listen to the Black Keys song "Lonely Boy" in at about 00:29 and onwards - that is the sound that you can get out of this amp easily. Love it!
It is a nicely compressed, smooth, warm while not overly dark sound that lends itself perfectly for Blues. I can't imagine a better amp for blues runs. It will also serve as a great classic rock amp with a mellower (but still aggressive, if needed) approach than Marshall or Fender.
Little clean headroom, but the cleanish tones will reward you with a full, tubey, compressed and full sounding tone that will also fit nicely for some jazzy stuff with ease.
Great for fingerpicking and a beautiful complex response to the attack. One of the amps that i would refer to if anyone would ask me what is special about the tube amp sound - it's all that this amp encompasses.
